When people find out we’re a family band, one of the most common questions we hear is: “How long have you been doing this?” or “How did you start?” We thought it would be fitting for our very first blog post to share the story of how Adore Praise & Worship came to be!
For those of you who don’t know us, we’re the Anduiza family. The origin story of Adore Praise & Worship begins in the early 2000s when, as kids, we started performing songs at Emmaus Ministry gatherings at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Miami, Florida.
Our parents were active members of Emmaus, a vibrant Catholic ministry that hosts transformative retreats for men and women. The ministry had a profound impact on our parents and, by extension, on our family. It was during these gatherings that the seed was planted, our love for music intertwined with our faith, and we felt called to use our talents to bring joy to others and glorify God.
Not long after, our parents encouraged us to form a youth band at our parish to energize the youth community and introduce contemporary Catholic Christian music. We loved the idea, and with other kids from our parish, we created two amazing bands during our middle and high school years: “Breaking Edge” and “Salvation 33.” For the next five years, we served at Masses, retreats, festivals, and parish events, creating memories filled with joy, passion, and laughter. Little did we know, those moments were shaping us for what God had planned for us years later.
After high school, life pulled us in different directions as we each pursued college and careers in various cities and states. For over a decade, we embraced the joys, challenges, and lessons of the “real world.” But in 2020, as the world slowed down during the pandemic, we found ourselves back home in Miami, each of us seeking a deeper relationship with God.
During lockdown, we had time to reconnect as siblings and started playing music together again. This time, it felt different. It was no longer just about performing; it was about worship. Deep, soulful worship that filled our hearts with hope, encouragement, and joy. It reminded us of God’s faithfulness through all seasons of life.
Our journey took a turning point when we attended a young adult Open Mic Night at St. Augustine Church. We signed up to play a few songs, just for fun. That event opened unexpected doors, opportunities to provide virtual worship sessions and later to play at parishes and ministry events.
As our music ministry grew, we realized it was time to choose a name. After brainstorming a long list, we felt drawn to “Adore,” inspired by Eucharistic Adoration and the act of “adoring” Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, a practice that has been central to each of our faith journeys. To reflect the mission and heart of what we do, we finalized “Adore Praise & Worship.”
And that’s how it all began! We’re incredibly grateful for everything God has done through this ministry so far, and we’re excited to see where He leads us next.
